Welcome to the Summer 2026 edition of the Arizona Alumni Magazine. As we continue to celebrate the Bear Down centennial, we have a story about the historic preservation efforts around the renovation of Bear Down Gym, as well as a profile of Wildcat basketball legend Ernie McCray, who still holds the U of A single-game scoring record. We’ve also got an interview with astrophysicist and newly minted Guggenheim Fellow Erika Hamden, whose social media channels reach hundreds of thousands of viewers, and a look at a rarely seen corner of campus — the piano slide in the School of Music.
