Mount Lemmon is a cool getaway and local attraction for UA students, visiting alumni and Tucson residents. The landscape saw healthy snowfall for winter play in 2017, with Ski Valley showcasing 22 trails for skiing and snowboarding. Visitors enjoy a twisting and scenic drive up Catalina Highway to visit the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains — its summit elevation is 9,159 feet.

The UA College of Science offers a Mount Lemmon Science Tour app, an audio guide for the drive up the highway to the top of the mountain. Science buffs and stargazers can visit the UA Mount Lemmon SkyCenter, a science learning facility at the Steward Observatory’s site, at the summit.
