The annual W.C. Lacy Distinguished Lecture is a tribute to Willard C. "Bill" Lacy, the first head of the combined Department of Mining and Geological Engineering at the University of Arizona.  Barbara Filas, 1978 mining engineering graduate, will present the 2023 lecture.  A licensed professional engineer, NAE member, and third generation miner, Filas has worked on the far reaches of six continents and is internationally known for her expertise in environmental and social responsibility.
