Homecoming Memory

Spring 2021

The University of Arizona's first Homecoming — the fifth in the nation — was in 1914. This photo from 1956 celebrates the Homecoming parade and the lost art of float making.

Nancy Berge (top left) was Homecoming queen. Also pictured are Patricia Finley (just below Berge), Bobbi Corr O’Rielly (back center/left), Susan Herbtz (front center) and Susan Daley (bottom right). The float was designed by Walt Disney. His daughter, Sharon, attended the university at that time and was in the same sorority as Berge.

This year, Homecoming is Saturday, Nov. 6. It is expected to include a combination of in-person and virtual events for Wildcats everywhere. CDC guidelines and safety protocols will be followed.
