Nomination Form & Guidelines

Thank you for your participation in the Alumni of the Year nomination process. Please review the details below for important information regarding your submission. Reach out to awards@uafoundation.org if you have any questions or need further information. 

The final deadline for nominations is Friday, September 20, 2024. 

$1,000 per college unit
Your fee includes:

  • Two Bistro tables seating five each, totaling 10 seats, at the Alumni of the Year event on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025 for the award recipient, their guests and guests of the nominating college*
  • Printed invitations and programs
  • Partial sponsorship of event costs, including awards, venue and catering

*Additional seats are available for purchase at $60 per person or $300 for a full table of 5. If you need more seats, please let us know and we can arrange. 

To allow for adequate time to process the Alumni of the Year awards and develop an impactful awards ceremony, it is essential the awards process moves forward in a timely manner. Please adhere to all stated deadlines.

The final deadline for 2025 nomination submissions is Friday, September 20, 2024, at 5 p.m. No additional nominations will be accepted after the submission deadline.

Nominations are submitted to the Alumni Advisory Council for evaluation. Nominators will receive notice of the Council’s decisions on or before Thursday, October 31, 2024, and will then be asked to notify recipients of their selection within 10 business days. The Alumni and Engagement Office will follow up with the recipients to share event specifics after they have been notified by the nominator or their designee.

The following information must be included and uploaded with the submission:

  • Nominee’s full name, preferred name for award materials, salutation, professional title and organization, email address and daytime phone number
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from the dean of the nominating college and one from another person following the below nomination criteria
  • A current résumé, curriculum vitae or detailed biographical statement on the nominee
    • Additional information from online or other sources can be included, and nominators are asked to please ensure the information is current and accurate
  • Headshot of nominee
  • 150 word, print-ready citation

Criteria for the nomination to be included in the two letters of recommendation:

  • Being as specific and detailed as possible, describe why and how the nominee has helped ensure the college’s success and future by bestowing honor or recognition on the college and/or making significant contributions of time or resources to further the college's mission 
  • The criteria described in our various individual award categories can be a useful reference for determining extraordinary achievement (e.g., professional achievement, humanitarian or public service, advocacy for education, distinguished volunteerism, or service to students) that has bestowed honor or recognition on the college.
  • Please note: It is important to include as much detail as possible about the nominee and their professional and personal background as the Alumni Advisory Council reviews each nomination with great scrutiny and this information is incorporated into an award citation and a video highlighting the award recipient

Once the nominee has been approved, the college may be asked to supply additional information to be used in the award citation.
