Brandon Coleman

2026 AOY Honoree, College of Fine Arts - Class of 2015

Brandon Coleman is a New York City-based choreographer, performer and educator whose career has included concert dance, immersive performance and artistic mentorship. 

Originally from Katy, Texas, Brandon graduated from the University of Arizona in 2015 with bachelor’s degrees in dance and communication. During his time at the U of A, he was awarded the Undergraduate Creative Achievement Award for Choreography and Performance, and he toured China with Artifact Dance Project. 

Brandon began his professional career with Visceral Dance Chicago, later performing as a guest artist with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Since relocating to New York, he has performed with KEIGWIN + COMPANY, VIM VIGOR, Belinda McGuire Dance Projects and the Metropolitan Opera. He also spent six years with Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More, serving as both a performer and rehearsal director. 

Brandon’s choreographic work has been commissioned by the Houston Contemporary Dance Company, Ormao Dance Company, fireWALL Dance Theater and numerous universities and festivals nationwide. His dance films and choreography have been presented by Little Island, Arts On Site and 92NY’s Future Dance Festival. 

A dedicated educator, Brandon teaches regularly at Gibney, Peridance and Steps on Broadway, and he has led workshops across the U.S. He also hosts the popular Breaking the Wall Podcast, now in its fifth year, offering guidance to early-career dancers navigating the professional landscape. 

For his professional accomplishments and his outstanding contributions to the field of dance, the University of Arizona is pleased to name Brandon Coleman the 2026 Alumnus of the Year for the College of Fine Arts.
