A portion of the proceeds — $17 of both the initial and annual renewal fees — from plate sales go toward scholarships for students from the state of Arizona.
- The state of Arizona charges a $25 initial application fee for the plate.
- Each year, vehicle owners also pay a $25 renewal fee at the time of their vehicle’s annual registration for standard UArizona license plates.
Scholarships are awarded in two categories: merit-based — to attract and retain students of exceptional academic quality, and need-based — for students who demonstrate great financial need.
