Every year, we look forward to partnering with you to welcome new and returning Wildcats for the academic year. Move-In provides a great opportunity to create a positive first impression and intentionally welcome students to campus. Our goal is to build excitement and provide a warm, welcoming experience for Wildcats and their families. We couldn't do it without you.

What to Expect During Your Shift

  • Shifts are a little more than three hours long.
  • Highland (Highland Bowl grassy area, outdoors): Volunteers will staff a bin tent, check bins in and out, help residents and guests find their destinations, encourage hydration and welcome students as they begin the year.
  • Honors (indoors and outdoors): Volunteers will assist at a bin tent or elevator and help welcome students.
  • LPAZ: Volunteers will assist with bin checkout.
  • CORO and VIDA: Volunteers may assist with bin checkout or elevator support, depending on location needs.

Timing, Training and Transportation

  • Shifts begin at 6:50 a.m., 9:50 a.m. or 12:50 p.m., depending on your assignment. Please arrive at your designated station — or at El Portal if you need a golf cart ride — by your scheduled start time.
  • Please note that shifts end on the hour. Allow time for travel to and from your location, and avoid scheduling other commitments immediately after your shift.
  • Housing will offer several optional Welcome Crew training sessions, both on Zoom and in person at the Housing Welcome Center in the El Portal building, located next to Highland Grocery. Please feel free to attend the session that works best for your schedule.

  • Tuesday, August 11 | 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.
  • Wednesday, August 12 | 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 13 | 12:00 – 12:45 p.m.
