2026 AOY Honoree, College of Engineering - Class of 1996 and 2001
Susan Gray earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA from the University of Arizona. She is president and chief executive officer of Tucson Electric Power, UniSource Energy Services and their parent company, UNS Energy Corporation, where she promotes innovation and operational excellence during a time of dynamic change in the energy industry.
Susan joined TEP as an engineering student in 1994. As she advanced through management positions, she established herself as a collaborative, inclusive leader. She was named vice president of energy delivery in 2015, promoted to chief operating officer in 2019, appointed president in January 2020, and was named CEO in 2021.
A strong believer that diverse perspectives lead to better solutions, Susan supports STEM education and programs that introduce girls to career opportunities in the craft trades. She is a founding member of Women in Energy, a company resource group focused on developing and mentoring women in the industry.
Her community involvement includes serving as chair of the Chamber of Southern Arizona and on boards for the Southern Arizona Leadership Council and the U of A’s Eller College of Management and College of Engineering. She collaborates with utility peers through service on industry boards and is a longtime member of the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson.
For her outstanding leadership, her dedication to service and her tireless support of the university, the University of Arizona is proud to name Susan Gray the 2026 Alumna of the Year for the College of Engineering.
