Timothy Tiutan

2026 AOY Honoree, College of Medicine - Tucson - Class of 2012 and 2016

Timothy Tiutan, known as Dr. Tim, is a renowned physician, educator and researcher. He also is a leading voice in public health, blending his clinical expertise with a talent for making health education accessible globally. 

Tim first attended the University of Arizona as an undergraduate, earning honors and degrees in physiology and Spanish linguistics, and he returned for his medical degree. He currently practices oncology hospital medicine as a board-certified internal medicine physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and is an assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College. In all his roles, Tim educates and mentors pre-medical students, residents, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. 

His research covers key areas in oncology, and he has multiple publications and presentations at national and international conferences. He also promotes public health as a CBS News medical contributor, official media spokesperson for the American Cancer Society, and active member of the WHO Fides Network, a global coalition fighting media misinformation. 

On social media, Tim quickly built a following of nearly 2 million people by sharing engaging, entertaining and informative content. From breaking down medical myths and misinformation regarding cancer prevention to sharing the latest skincare tips, his platforms provide science-backed medical advice that resonates with a diverse audience, empowering people to take control of their health. 

For his clinical excellence, his cutting-edge research and his use of social media to successfully disseminate evidence-based health information, the University of Arizona is pleased to name Timothy Tiutan the 2026 Alumnus of the Year for the College of Medicine – Tucson.
